A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin, 46, recently announced the arrival of his twins with his wife Jessica Holmes last month. The television personality shared the adorable snaps on his Instagram account alongside his spouse as the couple cradled their newborns in hospital.

The Channel 4 presenter has expressed his “guilt” today after the small-screen star announced his return to filming for BBC’s Escape to the Country following the easing of lockdown restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Taking to Twitter, Jonnie shared a snap of himself getting ready to board a plane to travel to the West Country.

He admitted he felt guilt towards his leaving his wife Jessica to look after their babies.

In view of his 16,000 followers, the TV presenter shared a selfie while he sported a face mask.

Jonnie wrote: “Been a while since I’ve been on one of these and probably the first post in a while that hasn’t featured a baby. Feel guilty as hell leaving my wife with the babies but needs must. #backtowork #3under2 #twins #onlocation #ettc.”

The couple welcomed twins back in June and are already parents to their two-year-old son Rex.

Fans of the show flocked to comment on the post as many admitted they were looking forward to new episodes of the BBC programme.

A viewer quizzed: “Somewhere dangerous as you’ve got a bullet proof gillet on?”(sic)

Jonnie replied: “Heading to the West Country so packed the Kevlar.”

Another fan remarked: “I think me and my wife have watched every episode during lockdown.”

Jonnie said: “Well we’re filming some more for you so keep ‘em peeled!”(sic)

A third person commented: “I’m not looking forward to going back to work and missing my daily fix of Escape to the Country. One thing is for sure my husband and I are definitely escaping to the country when we retire.”

Another viewer remarked: “Good luck, stay safe and happy filming. Looking forward to seeing the new episodes soon.”

Jonnie has been a regular fixture on Escape to the Country since his debut on the programme in 2009.

He is also a firm favourite on Channel 4’s A Place In The Sun alongside his co-stars Jasmine Harman and Laura Hamilton.

The news of his return to filming comes just weeks after his wife Jessica delivered their twins.

In a heartwarming Instagram post today, Jonnie asked for fans for help after he shared a candid video with the two newborns.

He captioned the clip, “Going” as one of his baby boys slept quietly but the second twin struggled to fall asleep.

However, it didn’t take long for his son to drop off as Jonnie added the hashtags, “#threeundertwo, #twins, #boys, #lockdowntwins, #sendhelp”.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays on BBC One at 3pm and A Place In The Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 at the same time.
