Adam Peaty says he ‘won’t be overcome by gossip’ as Strictly fans think he ‘almost kissed’ Katya

Strictly's Adam Peaty has issued a warning to trolls on social media, after viewers thought he "almost kissed" his dance partner Katya Jones on Saturday night's episode.

Strictly viewers shared their shock as they thought they saw Adam, 26, almost share a kiss with Katya, 32, after their performance on Saturday 16 October.

Fans shared their surprise on Twitter following Olympian Adam and professional dancer Katya's Argentine Tango.

Now, Adam has addressed the comments and posted on Twitter: "My favourite dance so far.

"Thank you to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it."

He then continued: "To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences. I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip.

"Protect your energy."

At the end of the dance, the pair had their chins touching and lips very close to one another.

The pair continued the pose, so not to break the magic of the performance, as the audience cheered. Their chins remained touching as Adam lifted Katya from the pose, as she was stretched out underneath him.

Katya can be seen placing her hand at the top of Adam's head as the pair keep their faces close. They then break the pose to walk over and hear the judge's critiques.

Sharing their surprise on Twitter, one viewer of the BBC show wrote: "DID ADAM AND KATYA ALMOST KISS?!?!?! #Strictly".

And a fourth said: "Adam Peaty that linger looked very sus. Hmmmm!"

Swimmer Adam's girlfriend Eiri Munro has appeared to have laughed off fans theories in a TikTok video.

The clip sees Eiri pretending to cry at the camera. Text on top of the clip then reads: "Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live tv".

Eiri, who shares one year old son George with Adam, then pauses and throws her head back to mime along to the cry as it becomes a scream.

The text on top of the clip then reads: "Finding out 10 million people also watched it live".

It comes as Eiri posted a gorgeous photo of herself on her Instagram page and simply captioned the photo with: "Not worried".

Eiri and Adam met on Tinder. The Olympian previously opened up on their romance, revealing Eiri fell pregnant two months after they met.

Adam explained: "Obviously it wasn't planned. I got the call in Australia, with her crying. I was like, 'OK, this is going to change my life for ever,'" he said.
