Former Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, 50, has taken to Instagram to take a swipe at the Prime Minister’s announcement about the country’s lockdown measures amid the coronavirus pandemic. Welcome to Gilead under Boris eye
Sharing a meme from popular TV show The Handmaid’s Tale, the radio presenter took a swipe at the Prime Minister.
Around a picture of the main character and Handmaid Offred, the caption read: “Welcome to Gilead under Boris eye”. (sic)
In the show, Gilead is a state under totalitarian rule, which has been established after the eradication of the USA.
The mother-of-two went on to share another meme of the PM above comedy duo Ant and Dec laughing, which read: “Tell them it will only be another four weeks.”
Not finished there, Amanda also posted a short clip of MP and former PM Theresa May giving a speech in Parliament following Boris Johnson’s announcement that Freedom Day was to be delayed by four weeks.
In the video, Theresa said: “We will not eradicate COVID-19 from the UK
“There will not be a time when we can say that there will never be another case of COVID-19 in this country.”
She went on to add: “Secondly, variants will keep on coming, there will be new variants every year.
“If the government’s position is that we can not open up travel until there are no new variants elsewhere in the world then we will never be able to travel abroad ever again.”
She continued: “The third factor is that sadly people will die from Covid here in the UK in the future as 10- 20,000 people do every year from flu.”
Theresa finished her speech by saying: “It’s incomprehensible that one of the most heavily vaccinated countries in the world is one that is most reluctant to give its citizens the freedom those vaccinations should [provide]”, the clip ended.
Sharing the video in view of her fans, the star wrote: “LISTEN TO THIS. MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. I’m wondering why no one is hearing”.
She also tagged the Conservative politician in the caption.
Followers of the Britain’s Got Talent judge were quick to comment on Amanda’s post, with many agreeing with her.
Former One Direction make-up artist Lou Teasdale simply left an applauding emoji.
While Amanda’s Heart Radio co-host Lucy Horobin wrote: “ABSOLUTELY”, followed by emojis of clapping hands.
Earlier this month, the star caused an online meltdown as she showed off her phenomenal figure in a tiny white bikini while appearing to be on holiday.
Taking to social media, Amanda shared a snap of herself soaking up the sun at a mysterious tropical location while donning a plunging white bikini.
Amanda appeared radiant in her swimwear, as she paired the look with a white blouse cover-up and a pair of large black sunglasses.
The I Can See Your Voice judge kept her hair down in a straight style, paired with sunkissed make-up.
