Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk leading ‘totally separate lives’ before split

The ending of Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk's relationship had been on the cards after the pair 'drifted apart'.

US media have reported that 44-year-old Cooper had 'focused on his work' and his time with Shayk became less and less.

The 33-year-old supermodel, for her part, had looked to 'protect her family' and was 'turning her back on the world of celebrity'.

A source close to the couple has told People.com that "they spent a lot of time apart," before confirming their four-year relationship was over on Thursday.

They went on to say that Cooper, who was nominated for a bunch of Oscars for A Star Is Born, was "living totally separate lives,” to Shayk by the time they called time on what they had together.

The couple share two-year-old daughter Lea De Seine Cooper Shayk and are said to be amicably sorting out how they will co-parent her.

The source revealed: "If he was in LA, she’s out of town, and if she was in town, he was out of town.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper had been working intensely on a biopic of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, in which he is going direct, co-write and play the lead role.

Cooper had also signed up to producing more films, with Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix and a Hulk Hogan biopic with Chris Hemsworth playing the wrestler.

Shayk, for her part, has jetting across the world for a number of photoshoots, including the front cover of Vogue Japan.

The model also bagged the cover of Elle in June and Vogue Hong Kong, as their schedules meant there was less time to spend together.

The split had a sad inevitability about it as their differences become irreconcilable.
