Corrie’s Julia Goulding addresses lip filler claims as fans notice plumper pout

Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has addressed rumours she's had lip fillers after fans dedclared they were distracted by her plump pout.

In Wednesday night's episode, the actress – who plays Shona Ramsey on the soap – finally woke up from her coma and started to speak.

During the emotional scenes, some viewers watching at home took to Twitter to ponder if Julia might have had a little work done on her face after claiming that her lips looked fuller than usual.

As the wild rumours flew, Shona spoke out to deny this was the case and explain the real reason for her apparent change in appearance.

"Has Shona had her lips done especially for her hospital bed scenes? #corrie @itvcorrie," one fan wanted to know.

Another viewers joked: :Have the NHS started a new offer? Buy one coma, get lip fillers free. #corrie #shona #duckface."

As the tweets continued, Julia told her followers: "For those of you wondering about Shona’s (my) lips, I’ve NOT had lip fillers done or cosmetic enhancements, I did however have a giant cold sore when filming these scenes!"

Shona sustained lasting brain damage after being caught up in the bloody Christmas Day shootings on Corrie, that saw three charaters shot by Derek Milligan.

Though last night she finally awoke from her coma after hubby David Platt played her recordings of children Max and Lily.

But David's initial joy was short-lived as it soon became clear Shona didn't know who her husband is.

Earlier this month, Julia confirmed her exit storyline as she heads off on maternity leave.

Spoilers for next week reveal the Corrie favourite will depart, or at least be close to leaving.

David informs his family that the hospital are planning on moving Shona to a specialist unit in Leeds.

He tells brother Nick Tilsley they need to move her for treatment to aid her recovery.

David later explains to son Max that the move means he will need to stay at his grandmother Marion's house a couple of nights each week.

It's not yet known if and when Shona will return, and if she will remember who David is soon.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
