DMX To Face Off With Snoop Dogg In Verzuz ‘Battle Of The Dogs’
DMX is set to battle with Snoop Dogg in the upcoming round of the “Verzuz” series, scheduled to air on July 22.
The face-off, billed as “the battle of the dogs,” will happen live on Verzuz Instagram and Apple Music.
“I ain’t got no dogg in this fight ! Yes u do who u got,” Snoop captioned a post he made to Verzuz’ Instagram page announcing the battle. In an earlier post, he had shared a photo of him and DMX together, writing in the caption: “Doggs4life.”
The competition between DMX, who has 15 Billboard Hot 100 placings to his credit, and Snoop, who has 43 to his name, including three No. 1s on the list, is likely to be a tough one.
Snoop Dogg’s big hits include “Gin and Juice” (1993), “Drop It Like It’s Hot” (2004) and “Young, Wild & Free” (2011), while DMX tasted great success with songs such as “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” (2003), “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” (1997) and “Party Up (Up in Here)” (1999).
Ludacris, who previously battled Nelly in a Verzuz episode, weighed in on the upcoming battle with a comment, writing, “This gon be EPIC.”
Verzuz, launched in March by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, started out as a 20-song showdown between producers and now sees rappers and performers battling it out, taking turns to play a song from a list of 20 tracks from across their catalog.
