Sir Rod Stewart, 78, said he was “downhearted” over the sudden cancellation of his Geelong show just hours before he was set to take to the stage. In the new update, the legendary musician explained he has been battling a viral infection that prevents him from being able to sing.
The superstar began: “Hello my friends.
“I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green.
“Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing.
“I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do.”
Sir Rod continued: “My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and get back on stage.”
Fans of the Maggie May hitmaker soon rushed to his post’s comments section to send him their well-wishes.

“We all want you to be well and at your best very soon xxx”
