Halima Aden rocks the runway during New York Fashion Week
New York singer Bebe Rexha — who has been outspoken about learning to love the skin you’re in — performed a moving opening and closing set for designer Sherri Hill’s New York Fashion Week show Friday.
But another model on the catwalk further stole the show at the soiree at Cipriani 42nd Street, Somali Halima Aden, stepped out to a cheering crowd when she modeled three runway looks with a hijab.
She’s noted for being the first woman to wear a hijab in the Miss USA pageant, in 2016, where she was a semifinalist, after which she was signed to IMG Models.
She is also the first hijab-wearing model on the covers of Vogue Arabia, Allure and British Vogue.
