How to Watch Clint Eastwood’s Cry Macho<\/em>
When you think of the classic American cowboy, who do you think of? John Wayne? Okay, okay. Maybe that’s your first guess. But your second is going to be Clint Eastwood. The 91-year-old actor and director has won numerous awards for his roles in various action, sports, and drama films with an awe-inspiring filmography spanning decades. And he’s about to add another movie to his list.
Now out in theaters and on HBO Max, Cry Macho follows a onetime rodeo star and failing horse-breeder (Clint Eastwood) who agrees to bring his ex-boss’s son back from his alcoholic mother. He’s taken to a life of crime, including cockfighting with a rooster named Macho. The two traverse Mexico on their way back to Texas, and bond on their challenging journey. The story is based on a 1975 novel of the same name, and pokes at toxic masculinity, while focusing on the relationship between the two main characters and what they can learn from one another.
Playing opposite Eastwood is Dwight Yoakam, an actor and singer-songwriter who recently appeared in Under the Dome and Billy Bob Thornton’s Goliath (and had a memorable single-scene appearance in Wedding Crashers).
If that all sounds up your alley, you’re in luck. The film is out right now and there’s more than one way to watch it. Which means all the Clint Eastwood fans out there have no excuse but to go and watch the legendary star as soon as possible.
