Katya Jones joined Strictly Come Dancing alongside her then-husband Neil Jones in 2016. Last year the couple went their separate ways after 11 years of marriage – but tonight sees the return of Katya to our screens as the new series of Strictly hits our screens.
At the time of their split, they released a shared statement to their individual Instagram accounts.
It read: “Hi everyone. As our fans and loyal supporters, you are really important to us, and so we wanted to let you know some news.
“After 11 years, we have made the mutual decision to separate. We will always love each other, just in a different way as friends.
“This will never change what a great team we make, and we are really proud of everything we have achieved together.”

The couple went on to say how they would continue to work alongside each other on Strictly.
The statement continued: “Our shared love of dance means we will keep working and dancing together as well as exploring individual projects.
“No matter what we do we will always support and respect each other. We wish one another every happiness, and we will remain the best of friends.
“We are really looking forward to getting back to the ballroom and can’t wait to keep on dancing. Lots of love from us both xx.”
Katya opened up on their split to Express.co.uk back in May.
She also spoke candidly of the past year and the dark side of fame.
The dancer said: “Turning 30 felt like a big thing. As a dancer, your body changes and I wasn’t in a good place, and then big stuff was going on at the same time.
“I got hit by the dark side of fame at that point. Being criticised on social media is tough.

“But it helps having amazing people around you that love you and having things you’re passionate about.
“Eventually it passes and you come out the other side. Turning 31 feels so much better.
“It was a transition but I already know so much better who I am.
“I’m still friends with Neil and we still dance together. We take it lightly.
“We have such a good relationship that we can do that and we still support each other in whatever we do.”
Strictly Come Dancing will air tonight on BBC One at 7.50pm.
