Love Island’s Tommy Fury comes under fire for using ‘homophobic slur’ in old tweet
Love Island star Tommy Fury has come under fire for using a homophobic slur in an old tweet.
The boxer, who is quickly becoming one of the most popular contestants on this year’s Love Island, said the word “f****t” to a rival boxer five years ago.
According to the Daily Star, Tommy was 15 when he sent the tweet. It is understood it was aimed at British heavyweight Dereck Chisora.
The tweet said: "Come on bro let’s get dis win good luck brother and chisora is a f****t and he’s gettin it proper @Tyson_Fury [sic]."

The account has since been disabled.
Jess Ingold, head of media engagement at campaigning charity Stonewall, told the publication: “While this tweet is historic, we know homophobic, biphobic and transphobic attitudes and languages continue to be an issue in society.
“For many LGBT people, the ‘F’ word has been used in a threatening and abusive way against them and may well be associated with incidents of bullying or anti-LGBT attacks.
“Our work continues to end the use of hateful language against lesbian, gay, bi and trans people.”
Tommy is best known as the brother of Tyson Fury, 30, the undefeated champion boxer.
However, Tommy said: “I’m my own man and I’ve said it throughout my whole boxing career.
"I don’t want to be labelled as his little brother, I’m my own man and I’m doing the best that I can do in life and that’s all I’m setting out to achieve.”
Tommy is currently coupled up with Molly-Mae Hague in the villa after Lucie Donlan recoupled with Joe Garratt.
