Maura Higgins has shared a heartfelt message of support for her boyfriend Giovanni Pernice ahead of tonight’s first dance on Strictly Come Dancing, which sees the Sicilian professional dancer paired up with EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis this year.

The 30 year old former Love Island star met and started seeing Giovanni, 31, this year, and the pair have been posting loved-up pictures and images together on their social media since they went official in the summer.

“The very best of luck to you beauties tonight…” Maura gushed on her Instagram Stories.

“I know you will absolutely smash it @rose.a.e @pernicegiovanni,” the brunette social media star added.

It came as EastEnders actress Rose, 26, shared a gushing tribute to 31 year old pro Giovanni after the news was announced they’d been paired up together.

“Very very excited that @pernicegiovann1 is my new dance partner,” the beauty shared. “Already in just one week I have learnt so much from him.

“I am enjoying every minute of it.

“I can't wait to show you our dance next week…!! Erk!!!” the star added.

Rose, who is Strictly’s first ever Deaf contestant, will be raising awareness and showing viewers like her just how learning choreographed dance routines without being able to hear the music can still be achieved.

Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly also explained in the series launch show about the extra support Rose will received every week.

The actress will have a sign language interpreter throughout her interviews on the show as well as during the judges’ comments.

It was touched upon how professional dancer Giovanni, who thinks his partner will finally help him win the show this year, is also going to help Rose count and move to the music by feeling the beat.

Fans will have to wait and see how the pairing fares in their first dance, which is a fast and energetic Jive.

The duo will be shaking and move to Taylor Swift’s pop hit Shake it Off.

It comes as there been a reported "crisis" behind the scenes of Strictly after reports surfaced three of the pro dancers were refusing to take the covid vaccine.

Since then, the BBC released an official statement refuting all the claims.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturdays at 7pm on BBC One, with the results show airing on Sundays.
