Patricia Krentcil: “Tan Mom” Hospitalized, Fighting For Life in Intensive Care Unit [Report]

Back in 2012, New Jersey resident Patricia Krentcil generated a nationwide controversy and earned the nickname “Tan Mom” when she was arrested and charged with child endangerment for allegedly sneaking her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth.

Like most living memes, Krentcil faded back into obscurity following her brief time in the spotlight, but she’s making headlines again this week for the very saddest of reasons.

Various outlets have confirmed that Krentcil is in a medically induced coma following a near-fatal battle with pneumonia.

Reports about her condition vary according to the source, but Page Six is reporting that Krentcil has stabilized and may be revived as early as Tuesday of this week.

Thougn just 50 years old, Krentcil has apparently been left in a weakened condition by many years of smoking.

Doctors have declined to comment on whether or not her fondness for extreme tanning has negatively affected her health.

In 2013, Krentcil moved from Jersey to Florida in order to pursue a career as a singer.

Her debut single “Free To Be Me” premiered on Howard Stern’s radio show and found a surprisingly large audience online.

Most of the updates on Krentcil’s condition have come from her music producer Adam Barta.

Barta confirms that Krentcil’s condition is dire, but he says she is expected to pull through.

The songwriter has described his most famous collaborator as a “stong lady” who greatly appreciates the support she has always received from fans.

Krentcil’s husband Richard recently posted an ipdate on Facebook, writing:

“Hi thanks for all support for patricia she is doing better and will send prayers for her she very strong.”

Krentcil’s condition is still listed as critical, but insiders say she is expected to stabilize soon.

While Tan Mom was certainly a controversial figure during her 15 minutes of fame, the internet community has rallied around her this week.

Our thoughts go out to Patricia and her family during this difficult time.

We’ll have further updates on her condition as more information becomes available
