Rachel Zegler & The ‘West Side Story’ Cast Hype Up The Movie During SiriusXM Town Hall Event

Rachel Zegler can’t hide the smile from her face while chatting all about West Side Story with her co-stars during a Town Hall appearance with Jess Cagle held at the SiriusXM Studios on Monday (December 6) in Los Angeles.

The 18-year-old actress joined Ansel Elgort (Tony), Ariana DeBose (Anita), David Alvarez (Bernando), Mike Faist (Riff) and Rita Moreno (Valentina) to chat about the movie, which will debut in theaters on Friday, December 10.

In a previous interview, director Steven Spielberg opened up about the importance of having every Shark be of Latinx heritage.

“First thing I said was every single Shark, boy and girl, needs to come from the Latinx communities. And without fail,” he said, adding, “We just wanted for this movie to get it right in the way that we wanted every single person who plays a Puerto Rican to be from the Latinx community, and that was a mandate from the get-go.”

Rita added in another interview about the film, which she also executive produces, “I am so proud every single Latino character is portrayed by a Latino actor, and that is very important because we are authentically showing what it means to be Latin.”

If you missed it, it was just revealed that the movie will not show in these countries.

FYI: Rachel wore Emilia Wickstead.
