Sir Tom Jones now has a ’12 pack’ after cutting back on drinking
Sir Tom Jones says he has greatly reduced his alcohol intake to keep in shape and is so fit he has a “12-pack”.
The singer, 79, said he “used to drink quite a lot”, but the quantity is “not much now”.
Sir Tom added: “Just wine with dinner – a pint of beer once in a while.”
He said he also has a good diet, adding the key was “not to eat too much of one thing, and more protein than carbs. I’ve got a 12 pack. Bur health is very important and that’s a lot of luck.
"You’ve got to take care of yourself.”
The legend, who presented Kylie Minogue with an Icon award at the GQ Awards, in London, also insisted he has his own hair and that his only vice was chocolate.
Sir Tom also revealed talks are under way about a film of his life.
Speaking at the GQ Awards in London, he said: “They’re trying to find out who would play me.”
He added he would love a fellow Welshman to land the role, saying: “An actor more than a singer. They can leave the singing to me.”
The Welshman’s comments about his health comes after a scare last year after he was taken to hospital with a bacterial infection, forcing him to cancel shows in the UK.
Sir Tom, whose hits include “It’s Not Unusual” and “Delilah”, apologized to fans on his Twitter feed at the time.
The star also told how he was looking forward to begin filming the next series of The Voice again
“The Voice is unique because it’s all about the voice and singing,” he says. “It’s not about dog acts, or jugglers, or flame throwers. It’s about singing.”
