AJ Odudu has stormed into the final of Strictly Come Dancing alongside her dance partner Kai Widdrington, but has now shared her fears that the pair’s hopes of lifting the Glitterball Trophy are hanging in the balance. It comes after the presenter confirmed she had suffered a foot injury just days before Saturday night’s final.

The 33-year-old unveiled her bandaged foot to and other publications during a Strictly press conference yesterday.

The dancing amateur explained that she and Kai have been unable to rehearse this week due to the ongoing issue.

Speaking to Strictly It Takes Two host Rylan Clark, AJ addressed her health concerns.

He asked: “What is going on with the foot?”

She replied: “There is ligament damage to my foot.

“I’ve hurt the ligament in the arch of my foot and I can’t put any weight on my foot at all.”

AJ went on: “We have missed a lot of training because I can’t stand up. I’m on crutches and I’m doing everything that I can to be there on Saturday night.”

The BBC contestant said that she has been left feeling “frustrated” and “upset”.

She remarked: “You need to practise in order to give it everything [on Saturday].

“At this moment in time, I’m very frustrated and upset.

“But our main focus is my foot and hoping we can make it on Saturday.”

The Strictly finalist soon broke down in tears as she detailed her struggles ahead of the show final.

Rylan quizzed: “I know this is a difficult question but I want to know what your Strictly highlights have been?”

AJ fought back the tears before becoming overwhelmed with emotions.

The tearful Strictly star commented: “I’m feeling really emotional. There have been so many highlights throughout the whole series.

“The Jive, American Smooth, Argentine Tango. But, genuinely, being able to make it to the final. We’re not there yet but everyone here has supported us.”

Unable to hold back the tears, AJ gushed over Kai for being her biggest supporter.

“You have been so patient, kind and brilliant,” she remarked. “Even now, when I’m hobbling about the place you’re being really positive, saying, ‘we’re going to get you back on that dancefloor.'”

AJ continued: “I’m just grateful for the whole experience. The public have also been supportive.”
