Suranne Jones says dad died from Covid and she’s ‘still coming to terms with it’
Suranne Jones has shared her heartbreak after her dad died in January from Covid-19.
The 42 year old, who recently shared a peek inside her family life and home away from her on-screen success, took to her Instagram feed to explain what happened to her 358,000 followers.
The Coronation Street actress, who is known for playing Karen McDonald in the popular ITV soap in the early 2000s, shared a throwback photo of her parents on a beach in Cornwall.
Suranne wished her mum, who passed away from dementia over four years ago, a happy birthday before sharing the sad news in the caption.
"Happy birthday mum [red heart emoji] forever on a beach in Cornwall with dad," she started, followed by a red heart emoji.
She continued: "mum passed away 4 and a half years ago and my father sadly passed away this January after fighting Covid and the affect it had on his body.
"We are still coming to terms with it all but I know they are together and today I want to celebrate them both."
"My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones. Today and always." she added with two red heart emojis and two rose emojis.
The star turned off the comments section, ensuring none of her fans or celebrity friends could send their condolences directly underneath the post.
However, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts instead as one person wrote: ":( I wanna hug Suranne Jones".
