EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite has taken to Twitter this morning to brand Boris Johnson a “selfish man”, after spotting a picture of him inside a hospital without a face mask. The TV star, 51, who played Mel Owen in the popular BBC soap, got “angry” after seeing the picture of the Prime Minister maskless at a hospital in Northumbria yesterday.

In view of her 248,600 followers, the actress questioned how the PM wasn’t “thrown out” of hospital for not wearing a face mask.

Tamzin wrote: “The first photo I saw when I woke up… this has made me angry.

“How has he not been thrown out of the hospital?”

She went on: “You HAVE to wear a mask.

“Everyone does you selfish man,” she ended her tweet.

Ahead of her tweet, Tamzin had taken to the micro-blogging site to wish her followers a “happy Tuesday”, adding that she hoped it was “peaceful”.

The star was responding to a snap of the politician talking to NHS staff without wearing a mask.

Mr Johnson sparked outrage after he was seen at Hexham General Hospital without a face covering this week.

But after the backlash, No 10 issued a statement, insisting that the Prime Minister had followed the rules and had worn a mask in “clinical areas” during his visit.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesperson said: “I am confident he will have been abiding by the rules in place.”

It comes merely days after he was spotted sitting next to Sir David Attenborough at the COP26 summit in Glasgow, also not wearing a mask.

When asked why he had decided not to wear a mask, Mr Johnson replied: “I’ve been, you know, wearing a mask when in confined spaces with people that I don’t normally meet.

“It’s up to people to make a judgement about whether they’re… whether they’re, you know, at a reasonable distance from someone and whether they’re with someone they don’t normally meet,” he told CNN.

Tamzin’s followers took to the comments to express their disbelief at the Prime Minister not wearing a mask inside a hospital.

Sally Keen wrote: “I’m just about to leave home for another gruelling 12hrs working for the ambulance service, this photo is demoralising In the highest order.”

Suzie Boosey commented: “Clearly cannot read because the signs are all around the hospitals saying please wear a face covering… unbelievable!”

While Steve Collins suggested that it could have been a distraction technique: “Maybe done this deliberately to take the heat off the corruption/sleaze debate,” he wondered.

Elsewhere, the star urged her followers to get a will after revealing that she received less money than she expected following her mother’s death.

The star made the admission following the death of her mum Anna in 2018.

Tamzin posted on Instagram imploring her followers to get a current will as she shared a picture of a shepherd’s hut which she had bought using the money she had been passed from her mother’s will.
