The Chicks’ Natalie Maines Dedicates Cover Of ‘Only One’ To Kanye West
The Chicks‘ Natalie Maines has shared a cover of “Only One” dedicated to Kanye West, who is currently fighting bipolar disorder.
“I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin’ / I know you’re happy, ’cause I can see it / So tell the voice inside ya head to believe it / I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel / And look at all that he gave you / You asked for one and you got two / You know I never left you / ‘Cause every road that leads to heaven’s right inside you,” Maines sings in the cover, accompanied by a acoustic guitar.
“Only One” is a song from West, featuring Paul McCartney. The song was released on December 31, 2014. The song was co-written by West, McCartney, Kirby Lauryen, Noah Goldstein, and Mike Dean.
The song is a tribute to West’s daughter, North, and is sung as a message to Kanye from the perspective of his mother, Donda West.
West is currently struggling with mental disorder. He recently claimed that he has been attempting to file for divorce from his wife and reality television star Kim Kardashian.
He also conducted his first-ever presidential campaign rally in South Carolina on Sunday, July 19, and went on to have an emotional meltdown on stage, at one point shouting “I almost killed my daughter” while on the topic of abortion.
Kardashian has since taken to social media to clarify that West has long suffered from bipolar disorder.
