The Weeknd’s ‘House Of Balloons’ Mixtape Coming To Streaming Services On 10th Anniversary

R&B superstar The Weekend has announced the release of a 10th-anniversary edition of his debut mixtape, House of Balloons.

Released as a digital download on March 21, 2010, the mixtape received widespread critical acclaim and is now being re-released on streaming services as well as vinyl.

The new collection will feature for the first time the approved samples used in the original mixtape, including an Aaliyah sample on “What You Need,” a Cocteau Twins sample on “The Knowing,” two different Beach House samples, and a sample of Siouxsie and the Banshees‘ “Happy House” on “House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls.”

Meanwhile, the singer recently responded to having received zero Grammy nominations for his massively popular and critically acclaimed 2020 album, After Hours.

In a statement to The New York Times, the Weeknd declared that moving forward, he shall be boycotting the Grammy Awards, including refusing to attend the ceremony, as well as submitting his work for consideration by the board.

“Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,” he shared.

The re-issued mixtape will arrive on Sunday, March 21, marking its 10th anniversary.
