Victoria Beckham teases new fashion collection with striking image of sheer top

Victoria Beckham has given fans a glimpse at her upcoming collection for London Fashion Week by sharing a striking image on Instagram.

The fashion designer, 46, shared a close up of a model in a sheer top with a large chunky necklace and her bare breasts visible through the thin material.

Victoria captioned the image: ‘21.09.20 • #VBSS21 • 2.45pm BST’, telling fans when they could see her collection during Fashion Week.

Despite Instagram’s rather strict restrictions on female nipples appearing on the site, Victoria’s post gained a lot of attention.

While some were surprisingly still shocked by the sight of a nipple in 2020, others rightfully pointed out that it was just a normal part of the anatomy.

One posted: ‘If a guy was wearing the same outfit it wouldn’t be an issue …………. so why is it different for a girl?’

Others added: ‘Lots of prudish comments haha! We see topless men on ig all the time but when it’s a woman, it’s suddenly ‘inappropriate’ and ‘unnecessary’ and not ‘classy’. Pretty sad some still have this mindset.’

There has been much debate about Instagram’s ‘double standards’ for allowing male nipples but not female nipples to be shown.

Their current guidelines state: ‘We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram.

‘This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks.

‘It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK, too.’

Despite the stricter social media guidelines, sheer tops have been a staple on catwalks around the world for decades – and it looks like VB’s new collection isn’t afraid to #FreeTheNipple either, and more power to her for that.
