Deadliest Catch star Nick McGlashan has died unexpectedly aged 33.

The reality star, who shot to fame on the US documentary series, passed away in Nashville on Sunday.

Nick's heartbroken family announced the devastating news. The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed.

McGlashan starred in 78 episodes of the Deadliest Catch from 2013 until 2020.

Nick's family have a long history in the fishing business and the star began his career in the crab industry.

He was seventh generation fisherman and appeared on the Discovery Channel series as a deck boss.

Nick struggled for years with an alcohol and drugs addiction.

He was suspended from the 13th season of Deadliest Catch and went to rehab as he was reportedly shooting up meth and heroin while downing a half-gallon of vodka every day.
