Doctor Strange actress Zara Phythian and her husband have been accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

The 36-year-old actress, who starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, has been accused of making the child repeatedly perform a sex act on her husband Victor Marke, 59.

A court has heard that the person in question who is now an adult had told police that the couple had abused her and also filmed the assaults.

The women claimed that they filmed most of the abuse to try and recreate pornographic scenes that they could watch back later.

Marke and Phythian are jointly accused of 14 charges of sexual activity with a child in relation to the woman.

Both Zara and her husband Victor deny all of the offences.

Details of the alleged sexual offences which were claimed to take place between 2005 and 2008 were shown at Nottingham Crown Court in a police interview with the woman.

According to the woman, the alleged abuse took place before the couple was married and when they were both martial arts instructors in the Nottinghamshire area.

The woman said the first offence took place after they urged her to take an alcoholic drink.

After this, Ms Phythian dared her to give Mr Marke oral sex and then afterwards she had sex with both of them.

She told the police: "I knew it was wrong but I just didn't know how to get out of the situation or say anything."

“I just did whatever they asked me to do. They made it seem like I was some naughty kid and they were helping me out.

“I just felt like there was no way out. They told me not to say anything.”

"I remember trying to copy Zara's reaction at the time because I looked up to her and tried to be like her in every way."

The actress' husband even allegedly threatened to smash in the woman's kneecaps if she told anyone about the assault.

She continued: "He just said nobody would believe me if I told them anyway.

"They always had a power over me."

Zara would have been 20 or 21 at the time of the alleged abuse whereas Victor was around 42 or 43.

Ahmed Hossain QC, prosecuting, said: "Both of those defendants commanded admiration and respect within the martial arts world and the prosecution case is that Victor Marke groomed these two separate complainants when they were children and that he used his position of trust and authority to make them feel special so that he could satisfy his sexual urges.

"And, it is the prosecution's case, that Zara Marke was part of that process and Zara Marke acted, as is alleged, with Victor Marke."

The trial continues.
