Eamonn Holmes has revealed he's "dreading insomnia" after starting his new job with GB News.

The 62-year-old confessed he dreads the early morning wake up after launching his new show alongside Isabel Webster.

The presenter's show airs at 6am which means he has to be in the studio at least an hour-and-a-half before going live, reports The Mirror.

Writing in his column in the Express, Eamonn said: "The early starts do take their toll, but knowing that you’re meeting up with one of your best friends, the work becomes much more fun and time tends to fly.

"The evenings can be a bit more difficult. My big dread about what’s ahead is insomnia and what feels like a 'sleep hangover' the next day."

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that makes it hard for a person to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep or causes you to wake up too early and not get back to sleep which has a knock-on effect on someone's day-to-day life.

The ex This Morning host said he "didn't sleep a wink" before he made his debut on GB News earlier this month.

The Irish native's children have tried to help the TV presenter with the early starts by buying him an alarm clock.

Closing his first programme with the network, he revealed: "I need to make a long-term plan about how to get up in the morning. I didn’t sleep a wink last night.

"My kids brought me a fancy alarm clock that went off and then I couldn’t turn it off."

Eamonn, who presented This Morning alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, added: "I’ve spent my career on broadcasting firsts and start-ups and GB News is one of the most exciting yet. It’s just the kind of shake-up the industry needs.

"I’ve admired GB News from the beginning for its clever mix of punchy debate but delivered with warmth and even some fun."
