After Elvis Presley divorced his wife Priscilla Presley in 1973 the star began dating a number of stars in the showbiz industry. Between starting relationships with the likes of Linda Thompson and Ginger Alden, he reportedly chased one of the 1960s’ biggest singers, Cher.

Cher married her first husband, Sonny Bono, when she was just 23-years-old in 1969.
Their marriage lasted six years, divorcing in 1975, aged 29-years-old.
Speaking to David Letterman in 2010, Cher said: “I had been [with] Sonny for so long, 11 years, so when I got out, I was really excited [about being single], but I wasn’t quite with it.”
When she was quizzed about going on a date with Elvis, she replied: “Almost!”
When David pressed her on the matter, she explained: “I got nervous. I didn’t get there. I was that nervous!”
Speaking with Andy Cohen in 2013, Cher revealed she was invited to “spend the weekend” with Elvis at Graceland – but she wouldn’t go through with it.
She explained: “I was just too frightened.”
Cher went on to tell David: “I wish I had [met up with Elvis] though! Marlon Brando, too. I wished that I had.”
Considering Cher split with Sonny in 1975, it is safe to assume this almost date between her and Elvis occurred sometime between then and 1977.
In August 1977 Elvis died of cardiac arrest, meaning she had lost her chance to go on a date with the King of Rock and Roll.
Since then, however, Cher has found a number of A-list lovers in her lifetime.

Speaking once again on Andy Cohen’s show, Cher revealed Tom Cruise is within her “top five” lovers of all time.
After striking out with Elvis, Cher did go on to get married to her second husband, Gregg Allman, later that year in 1975.
Elvis himself had some more relationships throughout the final years of his life.
Just before he died he proposed to his girlfriend at the time, Ginger, who was an actress and model.
Ginger wasn’t going to just walk into his life, however.
When the star was asked to move into Graceland with Elvis, Ginger declined.
She later recalled in her memoir: “I knew this was an offer that many women around the world would jump at.
“But, as much as I had come to love Elvis and think of him as part of my life – and my future – to just move into Graceland without being married first was something I didn’t believe in or feel was appropriate to do at the time.”
