Kim Cattrall responds to Samantha’s brutal axe from Sex and the City reboot

Actress Kim Cattrall has responded after her Sex and the City character Samantha Jones was written out of the HBO reboot.

Fans were left disappointed in the first episode of And Just Like That when Kim's character was missing.

The 65-year-olds former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrier Bradshaw on the hit show, eventually explained the absence.

The actress refused to be a part of the Sex and the City reboot amid a feud between her and Sarah.

In the long-running series and two movies, Kim played PR guru Samantha.

It's now been revealed how her character has been written out of the reboot.

Kim's character is now living in London after falling out with the friendship group which includes Charlotte, Miranda, and Carrie.

Carrie announced in the first episode that Samantha had "fired her as a friend" after she no longer need her as a publicist.

Fans were quick to comment on the absence on social media, with one even suggesting that Kim turned down the reboot due to her career taking off.

The actress seemed to agree with the statement as she liked the fan's comment.

One fan said: "Kim Cattrall didn’t return to SATC because her scatting career is finally taking off."

However, this was not the only Tweet the star liked as she also hit the like button when fans labelled the reboot "boring" due to the lack of comedy missing from the legendary Samantha.

One fan shared: “And just like that… I find myself only wanting to watch anything @KimCattrall is in. This is a Kim appreciation tweet."

Kim liked another fan's post: "It's just not right without Kim Cattrall. It's just all kinds of wrong."

"The way the writers have handled Samantha's storyline is all wrong. As if she'd be in London and not New York," a third complained.

Judging by Kim's response to the reboot it doesn't seem like she will be returning as her HBO character any time soon.

However, producers are hopeful she will make a comeback in season two as she was "missed on set."

An insider told The Daily Mail: "Carrie is the one who has the tough time without Samantha and by the end of And Just Like That you'll see Carrie extend the olive branch and try and rekindle the friendship."

The source also explained how "it made no sense" for Samantha to live in New York and not keep in contact with Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda therefore sending her to London after a fallout was the "perfect way to keep her alive and absence."
