Lisa Marie Presley is the only daughter of Elvis Presley, AKA The King. She has seen versions of her father be played in film and TV many times over. Now, a new biopic is coming to the big screen – so what does Lisa Marie think?
According to sources close to Lisa Marie Presley, there are some worries around the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic.
The story will follow a young Elvis, played by Austin Butler, as well as his dealings with his first wife, Priscilla (played by Olivia DeJonge) and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (played by Tom Hanks.)
According to Fame, a source close to Lisa Marie feared how some of Elvis’ exploits will be perceived by a modern audience.
The source said: “With today’s climate, Lisa Marie is concerned Luhrmnan will exploit that relationship, and there’ll be a huge backlash against her dad…

“Lisa Marie has been trying to have Priscilla really consider how much private information she gives, but it’s been a one-way conversation.”
Priscilla has already written a tell-all book about her life with Elvis, but there is likely still much more to discover, though it is not clear at the moment how much of the movie’s narrative will be based in fiction, or fact.
She has, speaking to Us Weekly, explained how much of her life she has spoken about, revealing she had a conversation with director Baz Luhrmann about the movie.
Speaking in 2019, she said: “I have been involved with Baz. He has come to my home and he has been emailing me.
“In fact, we’re going to be having another lunch at my home. He’s keeping me on top of everything. It’s been wonderful. He is a genius.
“I’m not getting involved with any kind of telling him what to do or how to do it or suggestions.
“No, no. I think this will be very stylized, very different.”
She also praised Tom Hanks, the man playing her husband’s late manager Colonel Tom Parker.
She added: “Tom Hanks can pretty much capture anybody as far as his acting ability and how professional he is and how deep and deeply involved he gets with the character.
“I’m extremely pleased. I think that it’ll be very good.
Recently, Tom spoke about a conversation he had with Priscilla, who revealed she had great affection for Colonel Tom, which is a different perception to that which many have.
He told late night host Stephen Colbert: “I was expecting to hear stories about the distrust she had for Colonel Tom Parker over these many years.
“And she said, ‘No. He was a wonderful man, and I wish he was alive today.
“‘He took really great care of us. He was a scoundrel in his way.’”
Despite what sources have said, little is known about Lisa Marie’s true feelings about the movie, and whether she agrees with the casting or the ideas Baz will be sharing.
However, while we have no idea about Lisa Marie, at least we know Priscilla is keen for Tom’s version of the manager who is sometimes considered a bit of a villain in Elvis’ story.
