One Direction: Liam Payne says Jesy Nelson quit Little Mix for ‘same reason’ as Zayn Malik

Liam Payne reveals 'there's more to come from One Direction'

Former One Direction star Liam Payne has been working hard to connect with his fans in the last couple of months. Just this week he appeared on a TikTok Live to speak to his die-hard fanbase, and discuss some of the latest bits of news in the industry. The hot topic of the month is the news that Jesy Nelson quit girl band Little Mix after nine years.

Jesy left the band earlier this month, explaining: “I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”

Liam knows exactly what it’s like to lose a member of the band.

In 2015 fellow One Direction singer Zayn Malik quit the group whilst they were in the middle of their world tour.

At the time, Zayn cited “stress” as one of his reasons for wanting to leave, as well as wanting to live a “normal 22-year-old” life.

Seeing similarities in Zayn and Jesy’s cases, Liam spoke out on how things are within bands at times like these.

The 27-year-old singer began by joking that this situation is similar to that of Zayn’s.

He said: “Someone Zayn’d out… No, let’s be serious about this.

“It’s always sad at this moment in time when bands get into that sort of thing.”

Liam then went on to make parallels between the two situations, saying: “Having been there myself, I feel like Zayn had left for pretty much the same reasons, in a weird way.”

Liam Payne discusses possibility of One Direction reunion

Liam continued: “But I wish Jesy all the best. I wish the girls all the best with carrying on as a three.

“It’s a tough time and I do feel for them, because everyone is watching in that little fish bowl at the moment.

“No one really understands what is going on and how it feels for some people.”

The Strip That Down star then began singing in tune of his new song, crooning: “I’m sending a lot of love to Little Mix.”

It is certainly going to be a tough situation for Little Mix and Jesy now that they have parted ways, but there is always a way back.

Most recently Liam teased a reunion for One Direction, four years after they had split.

He revealed he had been in close contact with fellow 1D member Louis Tomlinson in recent weeks.

In a recent interview Liam was quizzed on whether he would like to have a Zoom “catch-up” with the rest of his band, to which he replied: “I’d love that, honestly. I would.”

Liam then announced: “I was on the phone to Louis for a good hour yesterday.

“And yeah, you know, I think we just need a proper catch up. Actually it was nice to catch up for the ten-year anniversary.”

The Both Ways singer added: “But yeah I’m hoping we’ve got a lot more to come from us… Yeah I think we’ve got a lot more to come.”
