Rebekah Vardy haunted by ‘Wagatha Christie’ merch in Coleen Rooney court battle
Rebekah Vardy has claimed Coleen Rooney ’s “flawed” sting outing her as an alleged snitch has spawned an industry in “Wagatha Christie” merchandise.
The 38-year-old claims that 14 months on she is still haunted by her fellow Wag’s dramatic social media revelation accusing her of leaking details of her private life.
Rebekah denies she was the source and is suing Coleen for £1million in libel damages.
In new court documents filed by Vardy, wife of Leicester City ace Jamie, she claims interest in the case was “sustained and continued” among “all sections of the public”.
The mum-of-five – training to star in the new series of Dancing On Ice – said that was shown by the “various Wagatha Christie merchandise that can now be purchased including mugs, T-shirts and greeting cards”.
There is no suggestion that Coleen invented the name or has had anything to do with the production of any of the merchandise.
But Rebekah claims in documents filed at court that the tag stuck.
She claims the investigation which spawned it was “flawed”, her rival had reached a “false conclusion” and “rushed to publication without properly considering the evidence or making any further inquiry”.
In earlier court filings, Rebekah claimed the big reveal – “deliberately” posted on Coleen’s Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages – was “designed” for “maximum impact”.
She claims Coleen, 34, wife of former Man United star Wayne, knew she was “heavily pregnant” but went ahead when it was “obvious” she would “receive extreme abuse and hostility” as a result of the “public outing”.
Yesterday 239 Wagatha Christie items were listed on eBay with more on Amazon.
