Saweetie Trolled for Her Performance at Cheetos Fashion Show: ‘The Crowd Is Dead’
The ‘My Type’ rapper is seen in a fan-captured video excitedly performing her songs at the Cheetos House of Flamin’ Haute Fashion Show, but the audience doesn’t look excited at all.
AceShowbiz –Saweetie was tapped to perform at the Cheetos House of Flamin’ Haute Fashion Show on Thursday, September 5. She naturally put on her best performance during her gig at the runway show, but the crowd apparently wasn’t feeling her set in the slightest bit and that made people troll the rapper over it.
In a fan-captured video, Saweetie was seen delivering a rendition of “ICY” before launching into her latest single “My Type”. Opting an all-red look with a bodysuit underneath a blazer, she tried hard to hype up the crowd and even danced while belting out the songs. However, the audience’s response was far from excited. Instead, they just nodded along and recorded her performance.
Those who watched the clip couldn’t help but make fun of Saweetie. Someone especially pointed out at the fact that no one stood up when the female emcee told them to “get up out of your seats!” to which one added, “That and the fake scream they did.” One other confessed, “I literally caught second hand embarrassment.” Another said, “Sooo you thought you’d win the crowd over if you dressed like a flaming hot cheeto?!? Girrrrl, look around that crowd is dry as cake mix. You’re just not their type.”
Some others, meanwhile, made a reference to Nicki Minaj‘s retirement announcement. “So this what Nicki gone leave us with. This cant be real,” a comment read. After watching Saweetie’s performance, one person begged the “Anaconda” hitmaker not to “leave me with this.” Another chimed in, “This is what Nicki leaving us with. My goodness,” before hoping that Megan Thee Stallion could “keep that fire burning yes.” An individual, on the other hand, told Quavo to “come and pick” her girlfriend up.
Saweetie has yet to respond to the backlash.
The performance aside, the Cheetos House of Flamin’ Haute Fashion Show put forward a fashion, accessories and beauty collection that took inspiration from fan-created Cheetos’ fashion and beauty looks on social media. Following the show, the brand will open a pop-up shop that will run until September 8.
