The Big Lebowski actor Jack Kehler dies due to complications with leukaemia

Jack Kehler, who starred in The Big Lebowski, died following his battle with cancer at the age of 75.

His death was confirmed by his son Eddie, who told Deadline his dad had died in hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday (May 7).

The American actor, who's starred in a number of Hollywood blockbusters, was best known for his role as the Dude's landlord in the hit film The Big Lebowski.

He set his career off in acting at the age of 24 by beginning to work in theater and in 1982 began his tenure as a lifelong member of the Actors Studio.

The American star guested on a number of popular TV series, including Hill Street Blues, Hunter, Cagney & Lacey, and LA Law.

Jack starred in a number of productions in a career which spanned four decades.

Jack also featured on the likes of ER, 24, NYPD Blue, Mad Men and Bones.

He had dozens of big-screen roles including Invincible, Pineapple Express, Love Liza, Fever Pitch, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Lethal Weapon 4.

Jack played the recurring role of Harlan Wyndam-Matson in Amazon Studios’ The Man From High Castle and was most recently seen on Love, Victor where he played the role of a landlord again.

Beyond screen acting, Jack also produced a live one-man show featuring himself.

Fans have since taken to social media to lead with heartfelt tributes.

One fan wrote: "RIP Jack Kehler. Marty the landlord is of the most memorable Coens side characters' ever."

Another heartbroken fan penned: "Such sad news. RIP to another great actor."

A third added: "RIP to another hero and legend. RIP you chracter King Jack."

While a fourth shared: "RIP to Jack Kehler, another wonderful character actor you always enjoyed seeing show up in a film."

He will star in the crime movie The Platinum Loop, which is currently in post-production.

Along with his son Eddie, the actor also is survived by his wife, Shawna Casey; daughter-in-law, Mari-Anne; and grandson Liam.
