Ian Wright is one of 12 celebrities who are heading into the jungle for the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here !.

Already a public favourite thanks to his football punditry on BBC Sport and ITV Sport, the TV star is in the running to be crowned king of the jungle 2019.

With the show set to kick off next Sunday, the former Arsenal forward has been tipped to take home the top spot with bookies having him priced at 4/1.

Born in Woolwich, London, the sportsman started his footie career at Bermondsey-based Sunday league club Ten-em-Bee before signing for semi-professional Greenwich Borough in 1985 for £30 a week.

Just three months short of his 22nd birthday, he signed to Crystal Palace and went on to scored 117 goals in 253 starts and 24 substitute appearances over six seasons for The Eagles in all competitions, making him the club's record post-war goalscorer.

Following his appearances at Selhurst Park, he went on to play for Arsenal in September 1991 for £2.5m – which at the time was a club record fee.

He went on to be the club's top scorer for six seasons in a row, and played major part in the club's success during the 1990s, winning an FA Cup and League Cup double in 1993.

During his time at The Gunners, he scored 185 goals from 288 appearances (279 starts) and moved to West Ham, before short spells at Nottingham Forest, Celtic, and Burnley.

He hung up his boots in 2000, and moved into punditry.

In his 2016 autobiography A Life In Football, Ian revealed he has "eight kids with four women. Two I married, two I didn’t".

He wrote: "Sharon is mum to my eldest boys, Shaun and Bradley Wright-Phillips. My third son is Brett. Then Deborah and I got married in 1993 and we have a son, Stacey, and a daughter, Bobbi.

"My daughter Coco was born in 2006 and I support her but play no other part in her or her mother’s life.

"And I married Nancy in 2011, and we have two daughters, Lola and Roxanne."

He added: "It’s taken me until the age of 52 to properly learn what love is."
