Tipping Point viewers were left absolutely guffawed as contestant Umar made an awkward mistake while answering questions about chocolates.

Umar, who joined his fellow contestants in a bid to make it through to the final round, was the first to the buzzer during the quiz-round.

Ben Shephard read: "Launched in 1937, which brand of round sugar-coated chocolates sweets that come in eight colours -", when Umar cut him off.

He immediately pressed his buzzer, which saw Ben give him the opportunity to answer the question – one which it seems he may have soon regretted after making a major blunder.

Umar responded: "Coronation Street?"

Ben took a moment to take in his answer as he appeared entirely shocked at the unusual response, before looking back to Umar and saying: "Coronation Street? It's typically sold in hexagonal tubes, I was looking for a chocolate covered sweet. Smarties was the answer!

"It's quite a good tagline, isn't it?"

Umar put his hand over his mouth as he shared his complete shock and said: "Oh no!"

Ben asked if Umar meant Quality Street, which he had – prompting the host to respond: "You said Coronation Street, which is a TV show."

Taking to Twitter, viewers of the show couldn't help but crack up at the comment – and Ben's response, as one user shared a clip of the interaction and wrote: "Coronation Street! Ben Shephard's reaction [laughing emoji]."

Another wrote: "Coronation Street, that has to be up there with the most ludicrous answers."

A third person wrote: "How do you get Coronation Street and Smarties muddled up?"

Meanwhile, an additional person joked: "Coronation Street, the famous variety of sweets."

However it does seem that Umar may have been on edge and pulling at strings for questions, with the contestant unable to get through to the final round.

It comes after he answered two questions correctly immediately, but chose to pass the opportunity to put counters into the machine on both occasions.

As a result, he ended up with a mere £100 in his pot, which left him far behind his fellow contestants and he sadly had to leave the set with nothing.
