'Chicago Med': Where You've Seen Vanessa Taylor Before
In Chicago Med Season 6, Maggie Lockwood finally reunited with her daughter, Vanessa Taylor, who she gave up for adoption many years ago. Vanessa is a medical student at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. She becomes a reoccurring character in Chicago Med Season 7 and you’ve probably seen the actor who plays her before.
Who plays Vanessa Taylor on ‘Chicago Med’?
Actor Asjha Cooper plays Vanessa on Chicago Med. So far, the character is struggling to balance work and studying for her boards. Fans noticed Vanessa taking Adderall in order to stay awake and study. In episode 8, she nearly lost her job because of a drug test. However, Maggie helped her to pass, and hopefully, she’s learned her lesson.
Chicago Med is far from Cooper’s first acting credit. The 28-year-old actor has played a role in shows including Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader, Snowfall, and All American. She even guest-starred as Tinker’s sister in an episode of Friday Night Lights.
Asjha Cooper is a reoccuring character in ‘All American’
All American follows the story of a rising high school football player from South L.A named Spencer James. Spencer attends South Crenshaw High School but is recruited to play football at Beverly Hills High. The series is inspired by the life of professional football player Spencer Paysinger.
Cooper plays Kia Williams, Spencer’s ex-girlfriend who attends South Crenshaw High. Kia is an avid social activist and her uncle is a reformed Blood gang member. Cooper guest-starred in season 1 but became a recurring character in seasons 2 and 3. Spencer even kisses Kia in season 2, but in season 4 he is dating Olivia Baker.
The ‘Chicago Med’ actor will appear in a new TV show
Cooper is set to star in an upcoming comedy TV show called None of the Above. The Freeform show follows best friends Cannon (Gregg Wayans) and Valencia (Asjha Cooper) as they transition from college to the “real world.”
According to Deadline, Cooper’s character “is a strong-willed woman of devout faith, whose drive to succeed can often border on obsessive and gets her into trouble.” The new series is currently in post-production and hasn’t announced an air date yet.
How long will Asjha Cooper be in ‘Chicago Med’?
Although Cooper is starring in a new series, it seems likely that she will likely be a regular on Chicago Med now. Thanks to Maggie, it looks like Vanessa will pass her drug test and be able to keep her job. Hopefully, she heeds Maggie’s warning to stay away from Adderall.
Vanessa and Maggie have been hiding the fact that they are related to the rest of the hospital staff. Vanessa worried that if anyone found out, they would assume that she go to the job because of her mother. While it’s understandable that Vanessa wants her hard work to speak for itself, it’s unlikely that this can stay a secret forever. Maggie and Vanessa’s connection might come to light sometime in the future of Chicago Med.
