Dancing on Ice pro Hamish Gaman left show after ‘tense meeting with bosses’

Dancing on Ice professional Hamish Gaman, 37, reportedly quit the show after a tense meeting over his next skate performance with Faye Brookes.

According to The Sun, Faye, 33, thought the routine, which was based on a scene from iconic 1990 film Pretty Woman, was too basic for her.

The publication claimed that Faye thought the judging panel had been too harsh on them and feared they would end up in the bottom two again.

After Hamish tore his tendon while putting on socks, it seems that creating a more difficult routine would be near impossible.

A source said: "Faye wants to win at all costs and has been concerned that the judges have been quite critical of her and Hamish.

"So, at the start of the week, as rehearsals for what would have been this Sunday’s show began, they both went in to see show bosses to express their concern over the routine.

"Faye, in particular, felt it would be too simplistic, they’d get low marks and she would be at risk of elimination.

"It can’t have helped that the routine was taking into account Hamish’s injury.

"But, after the meeting, the cogs clearly whirred into action because less than a day later Hamish was gone."

Hamish had told his fans that medics had cleared him to skate on his Instagram Story just hours before it was announced that he was pulling out of the show.

Pro Matt Evers, who was partnered with injured Denise van Outen, will be returning to the show to skate with Faye when the series returns a week on Sunday.

The show has been forced to take a break for this weekend after several contestants have had to drop out and take breaks from training due to injury and illness.

ITV confirmed that the pause in the show is to help the contestants have a chance to heal before kicking on with the rest of the series.

The show has been hit by a favouritism row as bosses are reportedly planning on bringing back Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant and his partner Vanessa Bauer.

Joe and Vanessa had to pull out of the show after testing positive for Covid, which meant they had to miss one week of the live shows.

Bosses allegedly placed a rule at the start of the show that if a pair tested positive for Covid, they were out of the show for good, which was seen with comedian Rufus Hound at the start of the series.

Rufus was forced to drop out after isolating after coming into contact with someone with Covid, and tested positive the next week.

However, it has been reported the pair will return after Rufus, Billie Shepherd and Denise van Outen all dropped out, and Jason Donovan missed a week after suffering back pain.

The show has used both reserves, presenter Matt Richardson and Olympian Amy Tinkler, both of whom have since been voted out of the competition.

Dancing on Ice continues on February 28 on ITV at 6pm.
