Denise Van Outen refuses to do I'm A Celebrity in Wales but vows to sign up when it returns to Australian jungle

DENISE Van Outen has ruled out taking part in this year’s I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! but said she’d take part when the show returns to Australia.

The telly legend revealed ITV bosses regularly asked her to take part and admitted it was a show that was on her bucket list.

Denise, 47, was a finalist on Strictly Come Dancing in 2012 and also appeared on Dancing On Ice earlier this year.

When asked if she’d like to complete the “holy trinity” by going into the jungle, Proud Cabaret Embankment star Denise said: “I do get asked to do it but there is no chance I can do it this year because I am at Proud.

“I will do it at some point. I think I’m A Celebrity for my 50th birthday would be something nice to do.

“I am a lot more jungle vibes than Castle vibes to be honest.”

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Denise, also opened about her health and fitness regime – revealing she’d overhauled her lifestyle with her boyfriend Eddie Boxshall before the first lockdown.

Mum-of-one Denise explained: “Pre lockdown both Eddie and I did five months of being vegan.

“We wanted to change our eating habits.

“So when we went into that first lockdown it was the amazing weather and everyone around us was having BBQ’s.

“We both decided if we are doing a BBQ we are only going to be eating meat once a month. And we kind of stuck to it.

“I was worried about my daughter as she likes meat and she is quite fussy but she didn’t even notice.

“I am a lot more jungle vibes than Castle vibes to be honest.”

“Eddie’s daughter is vegetarian so we introduced some bits to Betsy, Eddie would make spaghetti Bolognese and he swapped out the meat for Quorn. And Betsy didn’t even notice the difference.

“I’ve felt so many health benefits. When you are doing it it doesn't feel extreme at all. Once you have adapted it becomes like second nature.

“I feel it’s helped my body, so my digestion and the way I feel. I feel lighter and it has made me more aware of what I eat. I try to look after myself more.

“My treat and we normally do it at the end of every month is having a roast with meat. That is my meat meal because I absolutely love a roast. Or we’ll do a big BBQ.

“But I feel so much better for it. With my training too, it all goes hand in hand with eating this way.”

As well as sticking to a cleaner diet, Denise says she’s fallen in love with keeping fit.

She now trains with a personal trainer a few times a week to keep her in shape after deciding to cancel her gym membership.

Denise says: “I do enjoy training. I enjoy it much more than I thought I ever would.

“I get a real buzz from it, it makes me feel so much better!

“I don’t go to the gym. We built an assault course in the garden during the last lockdown and it is filled with things I like to do.

“I have got my own weights and I enjoy doing them.

“The reason I have been able to keep mine up is because mine feels really fun.”

To encourage Brits to try a meat-free picnic this summer, actress and presenter Denise Van Outen is partnering with Quorn to deliver meat-free picnics for free via the Deliveroo app in London and Manchester on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August 2021, for 1p delivery while stocks last.
