On Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid were back to discuss the latest news headlines. During one segment, they spoke with Claire Mercer, who is campaigning against smart motorways following her husband’s death in 2019. Richard went on to question what would happen if a school bus broke down as he called for smart motorways to be scrapped.
“What would happen if a school bus were to break down?” he raged. “And why wouldn’t it? They are not miraculous machines.
“What if a school bus breaks down on what used to be the hard shoulder?
“Which is a very active lane and there are dozens of lorries barrelling down that lane.
“It doesn’t bear thinking about.”
Viewers were also left outraged by the segment, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts.
