EastEnders' Ian and Cindy reunited as Adam Woodyatt runs into on-screen ex wife Michelle Collins

EASTENDERS' Ian and Cindy Beal were reunited off-screen as Adam Woodyatt accidentally bumped into Michelle Collins.

The former co-stars took to Instagram to reveal how they ran into each other as they both visited the theatre in Woking, Surrey.

Adam, 53, took to his social media to share a selfie with actress Michelle, 59, who played his on-screen wife, and friend Gaynor Faye.

Michelle & Adam played Mr and Mrs Beale in Walford for just over a decade – between 1988 and 1998 – until Cindy died of childbirth in her final episode.

But the pair were reunited in an impromptu visit to the theatre, as the EastEnders actor explained they had accidentally met up.

"Small world! Bumped into @michelledcollins yesterday and she cut my head in half!" Adam joked in the comments section of the picture.

Detailing they had gone to see play Looking Good Dead, Michelle chimed in on an identical post on her grid: "Who is that lurking in the background?"

The selfie saw Michelle pouting towards the camera as she held it high above her head, with Adam's legs and torso in the background.

Fans immediately flooded the comments section to celebrate the former on-screen couple back together after more than two decades.

"Least she didn’t try to kill you this time," one long-term soap fan joked, referencing character Cindy's evil exploits on the show.

Another chimed in: "Bet that brought back some memories seeing her!" as a third wrote: "What a lovely bunch of people. Love this!"

It comes weeks after Adam was reunited with Jake Wood as they enjoyed a drink in a pub together outside of the Queen Vic.

Adam, who played BBC One favourite Ian Beale, was recently written out of the Walford action as he takes a break from the show.

Meanwhile Jake, who played Max Branning for 15 years, exited Albert Square in an explosive storyline that saw his character shunned.

The pair, both sporting beards and moustaches, posed in a cafe, with an excited Adam holding up his coffee cup in a cheers.

The snap came after the pair's impromptu selfie earlier this month, when they bumped into each other at London's Kings Cross station.

NO MORE BEALE?

Adam recently suggested to fans that he may never reprise his role as Ian Beale in the soap after his break from filming.

The actor has played the role of the Albert Square businessman for a massive 36 years, appearing in the first episode in 1985.

But the 53-year-old, on an "extended break" from the soap, admitted his return was not set in stone.

He told the Metro in July: "I won’t be going back until this time next year at the absolute earliest.

"I’m committed to touring with Looking Good Dead until the end of October. I’m then going to America because my daughter is getting married.

"Then hopefully we’re going to pick the tour up and do some of the venues that were originally planned but that we hadn’t managed to get to. That’s likely to be January to April."
