EastEnders star Heather Peace, who plays Eve Unwin in the BBC One soap, joined Lorraine on Monday morning to discuss her new character in the show and how she is finding being on the BBC soap. Speaking on her current storyline, she revealed that Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner) and Eve’s relationship isn’t an emotional one and is purely for transactional purposes. However, the tease of their un-emotional relationship could possibly hint at a possible real romance for the character.
Lorraine began: “Tell you what, what a great character to play, she takes no-nonsense, she can really handle herself as well, and this marriage is a marriage of convenience, isn’t it?”
Heather revealed: “Yeah, do you know what, it’s more about the friendship between her and Stacey, they spent six months together, and they’re as tight as anything.
“But there is nothing emotional going on, I just found it quite an interesting thing to explore that relationship.
“The gay girl and her best mate who is straight and she marries her to essentially provide her with an address so that she can go on parole.”

She also spoke about how taking the role as Eve came at the right time for her as she took a break from her acting career to focus on her family.
“It was absolutely perfect, I left waterloo road to embark on the journey with my wife to have a family, and we’ve done that now.
“We’ve got three girls, Annie, Jessie and Lola [and] the job came through about two weeks before they went to school, so I feel ready to get back out there, and it’s been absolutely perfect.
“The cast and crew here have been so wonderful it’s an absolute joy to work, so I feel like I’m ticking all the boxes right now.”
Despite Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) trying to kick the Slaters and Eve out of their house, fans of the show have started to speculate that there could be a new romance on the horizon for Eve and Suki.
@dramaticangst wrote: “Suki and Eve scenes? Is this going where I thought it was going?”
@LOVERRTY also commented: “ready for enemies to lovers storyline for Suki and Eve xx those long stares that seem to be filled with hatred but really they’re in love.”

Could this be a play from Eve to stop the Slaters from becoming homeless?
Viewers will remember Suki developed strong feelings for her best friend, Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton), earlier this year.
After a night out drinking with one another, Suki kissed her but sadly was not reciprocated with Honey providing support for her friend.
An embarrassed Suki told Honey to leave her house and pushed the incident aside as if nothing ever happened.
As she struggled to cope with the feelings she was having, Suki turned against Honey, destroying their friendship as she was desperate to keep their kiss a secret.
In tonight’s episode, fans will see Stacey worried about her families living situation as Suki threatens to kick them out.
She soon receives a call from Eve, who is drunk in the café, having a go at Suki before revealing she is meant to be meeting her probation officer.
Stacey is desperate to sober her wife up and takes her home, but when the probation officer turns up, she asks her mother, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) intervene.
EastEnders airs weekdays from 7:30pm on ITV.
