EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt says cycling is secret to his lockdown weight loss

EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt left fans baffled when he revealed his slimmed-down physique in Secrets From The Square.

And the actor – who plays Ian Beale on the BBC soap – has now spilled the beans on how he managed to shed the pounds in lockdown.

The 52-year-old – who has been the subject of cruel fat-shamers in the past – revealed he’s toned up thanks to his newfound love of cycling.

And who’s been pushing him to get on the bike? Only his co-star Jake Wood, of course!

Clad in cycling gear (what else?), Adam thanked Jake for pushing him to get active in a clip on his Instagram Stories.

The soap star – who split from his wife last month after 22 years of marriage – said: ‘Like my mate Mr Wood says, “you got to get out there. You got to do it.”‘

Adam added: ‘He goes running – I go cycling.’

The pair have been whizzing round Britain together on their bikes, with Adam documenting their woodland cycle last month.

Sharing a snap of them decked out in their finest fluoro gear, he wrote: ‘If you go into the woods today… Lunchtime ride with @mrjakewood and his son.’

Adam previously admitted his weight is a sensitive topic for him after he was mocked by cruel trolls online.

Opening up on the disheartening comments, the Albert Square legend recalled one woman who claimed he looked heavier off-screen.

He said: ‘One of the best examples of somebody being rude is when we were at the BBC Good Food show.

‘This woman looks at me and says, “You’re fatter than you are on telly”.’
