Ellie Goulding covers up baby bump in extra AF dress on The Graham Norton Show

Ellie Goulding stunned us all when she revealed this week that she is 30 weeks pregnant with her first child.

But despite the news being out, you’ll struggle to see that baby bump when she appears on The Graham Norton Show tonight.

The 30-year-old joins Graham in the studio on tonight’s show to perform her song New Love with Silk City, and wears a spectacularly frothy number for the performance.

In stills from the show, Ellie wears a huge purple frilled tulle dress and train, paired with sequinned sleeves and striped boots for the show, and jokes about the volume of the silhouette with Graham.

The Starry Eyed singer says: ‘There is a baby under here somewhere!’

As well as performing, Ellie speaks about her new book Fitter, Calmer, Stronger, saying: ‘It’s about how to balance being a touring musician and keeping fit and healthy. The two don’t normally go well together.

‘It’s my journey to achieve optimum health with my job. Hopefully it’s interesting!’

Ellie joins Stanley Tucci, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Aisling Bea in studio, while Kate Winslet and Orlando Bloom chat to Graham via video call.

During lockdown, Ellie and her husband Caspar Jopling managed to keep it under wraps that she was expecting after finding out she was pregnant last August.

The singer confirmed the news with a baby bump shoot for Vogue, and spoke about feeling ‘womanly’ while pregnant.

Ellie said: ‘That was [around] the time when [Caspar and I] went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out. It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan.

‘The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality. Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.’

The star added that because of the pandemic, pregnancy was more of a ‘solitary journey’, and led her to being more secretive and ‘protective’ over the news.

She said: ‘The sickness and tiredness was nothing I’d ever experienced before. I feel like it’s a taboo to talk about pregnancy as being challenging. It’s not always serene and like you’re not always glowing.

‘I’m not saying that every second of this pregnancy has been miserable. It’s not always going to be easy. [But] I have a newfound respect for any woman who has children.’

Ellie and Caspar, 29, tied the knot in August 2019 in a lavish wedding at York Minster, with Ellie wearing four designer outfits throughout her wedding day.

The Graham Norton Show is on tonight at 10.45pm on BBC One.
