GMB fans concerned as Charlotte Hawkins replaces Kate Garraway on show
Good Morning Britain viewers were left feeling a little concerned earlier today when Charlotte Hawkins appeared to replace Kate Garraway on the show.
Since her GMB return last month, Kate has been joined by pal Ben Shephard on Monday and Tuesday mornings, presenting the first two instalments of the week.
However, in a hosting shake-up today, Charlotte was joined by Adil Ray in the ITV studios, presenting the show with GMB doc Hilary Jones.
While Ben announced he would be taking a break from the show to focus on his other TV show, Tipping Point, fans weren’t sure why Kate had taken leave.
Taking to Twitter, worried viewers asked after Kate, wondering why Charlotte was unexpectedly filling-in on the show.
One said: "Where is Kate .. started looking forward to Monday’s as Kate was finally back with us."
"I like Charlotte but is everything ok with Kate? Doesn’t she do Mondays?" wondered a second.
And a third added: "Where is Kate today?"
However, fans have no need to worry, as Kate has decided to take the remainder of August off to spend time with her children.
The 53-year-old has been caring for Billy, 11, and Darcey, 14, since her husband Derek Draper was admitted to hospital with coronavirus back in March.
Former Labour lobbyist Derek tragically remains in hospital, as though he no longer has the virus, it has wreaked havoc on his internal organs.
With the family supporting him throughout his health battle, the 53-year-old dad-of-two is still in a state of "minimum consciousness" after he woke up from his induced coma.
Kate has planned to spend the rest of the summer with her kids before they head back to school in September, and will then return to GMB alongside Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV
