Last Saturday, Strictly Come Dancing fans watched as the remaining stars took to the dance floor to earn a spot in the quarter-final. It was Ellie Taylor and Fleur East who landed in the dance-off as they both fought to stay in the competition. Although Gorka Marquez revealed he was worried it could have been him and Helen dancing for their place.

On Wednesday’s episode of the Strictly spin-off programme It Takes Two, host Janette Manrara welcomed Gorka and Helen onto the show.

Touching on their most recent Samba routine, the presenter commented the scores received by the judges were the lowest since their Paso Doble in week four.

With Craig Revel Horwood giving them a mere five for their performance, Janette asked Gorka how they felt about his criticism.

Although the Strictly pro joked the judge must’ve had a temperature and must not have been feeling great.

Mentioning they were second from the bottom of the leaderboard, with comedian Ellie falling in last place, Janette asked if they were worried about being in the dance-off.

Gorka admitted: “Well it was not a pleasant place to be, especially now the competition is so tight. We were a bit worried.

“But, we made it through so we were alright.”

Chiming in, Helen told the host it would be boring if they only ever got 10s and nines from the judges.

Speaking about her time in the competition so far, the Countryfile star admitted she underestimated what it would be like.

She said: “It makes you ask questions of yourself that you don’t want to ask.

“I’m a 39-year-old woman with three kids and you do your jobs and relationships, your house, career, all of that.

“You don’t really just challenge yourself and find joy in yourself so it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions that I didn’t expect.”

Although Helen and Gorka were at the bottom end of the leaderboard, they were voted through by the public and made it through to the quarter-finals.

In the dance-off was Ellie and Fleur East, who found herself having to redo her performance for the third time to impress the judges.

Despite both giving it their all one more time, it was singer Fleur who the four judges decided to save as Ellie was the next person to exit the show.

When presenter Tess Daly revealed the news of her departure, she spoke to the comedian about her time in the competition.

Ellie said: “It’s been everything and more” I never in a million years expected to be in for this long and to experience it so fully.”

Regardless of Fleur finding herself in the dance-off, she’s currently in joint third place along with Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu who also received 35 from the judges.

At the very top are Will Mellor and Nancy Xu who have an impressive 38 with Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal following close behind with 37.
