Grand Designs star Kevin McCloud makes £3m in just ONE year after clever property investments and TV jobs

GRAND Designs star Kevin McCloud has made £3 million in just ONE year after clever property investments and TV jobs, The Sun can reveal.

The new series of the Channel 4 show launched earlier this month, and bricks and mortar have proven to be a big earner for the 61-year-old host.

New accounts for the star's company MCC3 LTD reveal that the business had a bottom line of £845,903 in 2019.

However, it also handed over a staggering £607,269 to HMRC in Corporation Tax, which means that Kevin's taxable earnings were around five times that much – bringing his pre-tax total to £3,036,345.

This is more than his 2018 income, which saw the company pay £288,984 to the tax man – over £300,000 less.

Kevin has earned his cash by becoming a TV staple, fronting Grand Designs since 1999.

He has also starred in a string of spin-offs, and has several best-selling books.

As if that wasn't enough, Kevin is in demand for corporate speaking events – with the engagements commanding fees between £10,000 and £25,000.

Kevin also gets paid to host award ceremonies for firms and other public appearances.

Despite raking in the cash, the TV favourite remains tight-lipped about how he spends his money and does not show his own home to fans.

In fact, Kevin relishes in keeping his private life private, saying in an old interview: "If I welcomed people into my lovely home every week in the pages of a magazine they’d soon see how incredibly dull it is. It’s important to maintain a bit of mystique.

"The more of your private life you put into the public domain, the smaller your private life becomes."

Instead of offering glimpses into his home on social media, Kevin instead shares photos of architecture he happens upon on his travels.

Kevin was last known to be living in Frome Somerset, with his wife Suzanna and their four children.

However, the couple split in 2019 and it is unclear whether her relocated then.
