This Morning paid tribute to a former guest as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield shared the sad news that Heather Bone passed away this week.

Heather had appeared on the show in June as a caller selected for Dosh on your Doorstep, where she won the the £1,000 prize money.

Holly informed their viewers of the news following an advert break, where she said to those watching: “It's with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Heather Bone passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening."

Phillip added: "You may remember Heather from the time she took part in our competitions, she was an amazing lady."

With Holly finishing: "She really was, Heather spent her final months living her life to the fullest and our thoughts go out to her friends and family at this time."

News of her passing was posted to Instagram, as a statement read: "After a long battle with cancer, Mum went in the most peaceful and perfect way last night.

"Mum inspired so many people and will do for years to come, she always put others first and ALWAYS stayed positive which kept the whole family going.

"On behalf of Mum she was so grateful of the support everyone gave us the past year as it kept her positive. After suffering for so long she deserves a rest. Sleep tight Mum."

When Heather appeared on the Dosh on your Doorstep segment, she had informed Alison Hammond that she only had three months left to live after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

She shared that her plans for the winnings would be to throw a farewell party, a cause so touching that This Morning donated a second £1,000 to Heather after winning the quiz.

Dosh on your Doorstep segment host Alison also paid her respects to Heather following her tragic passing.

She wrote: "God bless Heather on her next journey now, I’m so honoured to have met her. RIP Heather."

Heathers story was so touching to viewers that supporters flooded her Gofundme account with donations and sent private messages to her Instagram page.

Just weeks ago Heather appeared on This Morning to talk to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford about spending the prize money on a wake.

She said: "It was everything all mixed up, it was emotional, it was happy, it was nice to see work friends I haven’t seen for a while. It was really nice. Yesterday I spent the whole day in bed."

Heather leaves behind her husband David and two sons aged 15 and 16.
