Hollyoaks 2022 predictions from Maya’s identity exposed to Mandy’s ‘sudden’ exit

Hollyoaks is known for epic Christmas storylines but what can fans of the Channel 4 soap expect in the new year?

In 2021, the serial drama delivered multiple murders, sordid affairs and plenty of explosive moments.

Now with the 2022 just around the corner, Daily Star has compiled a list of what Hollyoaks viewers could have to look forward to in upcoming scenes.

From Mitchell Deveraux's potential return, mysterious newcomer Maya's true identity possibly being revealed to Mandy Richardson's sudden exit following actress Sarah Jayne Dunn's controversial sacking over her racy OnlyFans account, here is what could happen in Hollyoaks within the next 12 months.

Mitchell Deveraux return

Fan favourite Mitchell (Imran Admas) could make an explosive return to Hollyoaks in the new year.

Fans will know that Lisa Loveday (Rachel Adedeji) was brutally murdered by Toby Faroe (Bobby Gordon) on the day of Mitchell's wedding to Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams) in 2020.

Toby was jealous of Mitchell, and his rage got the better of him, and thus he set out to kill his sibling, only to discover later that Lisa was the victim of his heinous attack.

Celeste Faroe (Andrea Ali) help her brother Toby bury Lisa on hotel grounds, but later returned to move the body, which is when Mitchell discovered the truth.

Toby kept his brother hostage, before letting him go, but only on the condition that he leave the village for good and never return.

A dead body was recently found in the woods Celeste recently threw Mitchell under the bus by blaming her brother for Lisa's murder.

Will innocent Mitchell return to clear his name?

Bookmakers have Michell returning to the village at 4/6.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Halloween may be long gone but Celeste's sins are surely going to come back to haunt her with Mitchell a shoo-in for a dramatic village return to clear his name."

Maya's true identity revealed

Hollyoaks' newest bad girl Maya's true identity revealed could be revealed the new year.

Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) mysteriously vanished last month following a disagreement with partner Nancy (Jessica Fox).

Fans soon discovered Darren had been kidnapped by Ethan (Matthew James-Bailey) and his dangerous partner Maya (Ky Discala).

The soaps' winter trailer revealed Darren's existence is a threat to Maya's freedom and she wanted him dead.

But it turns out that it’s not just Darren that she’s got on the wrong side of, as upcoming scenes will see undercover cop Lexi (Natalie Anderson) showing Nate Denby (Chris Charles) a picture of their primary target Maya.

It appears that Maya may have a sinister connection to villain Fergus Collins (Robert Beck) but why is she determined to get rid of Darren for good?

Ladbrokes have Maya to be revealed as Darren's secret relative at 3/1.

Alex added: "Maya's identity remains something of a mystery at this point, but the odds suggest fans could be in for the shock of the year with a surprise reveal potentially on the cards."

Fans will have to wait and see who Maya really is.

Baby twist

Hollyoaks teens Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) and Ella Richardson (Erin Palmer) left their families gobsmacked when they announced their plan to have underage sex earlier this year.

Charlie, 14, and Ella, 13, decided to ignore concerns from Nancy and Darren and sleep together.

Hollyoaks previously aired a pregnancy scare for Ella earlier this year.

She told mum Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn) that she thought she was pregnant.

However, Ella made a surprise announcement over the Christmas period, dividing the Osborne family.

The life-changing decision casted a dark cloud over the festive celebrations at Nancy's.

With Nancy also expecting Darren's baby, will both women end up having smooth pregnancies?

Mandy Richardson exit

It has been confirmed that Sarah Jayne Dunn's final scenes as Mandy Richardson will air in 2022.

The 40-year-old actress was informed last month that her contract at Hollyoaks had been terminated because she refused to take down her account on adult subscription service platform OnlyFans.

Speaking about her exit, the TV beauty told Daily Star: "Mandy is a massive character that's been a significant part of the show for a long, long time.

"I think it's really sad they've made that decision to end it this way, and not even give it any closure. Who knows what will happen there.

When asked how she'd feel if Hollyoaks hired another actress to play Mandy, Sarah said: "I would feel really, really upset if. The character is mine.

"I've played her for 25 years. Someone else can come in and play the character but she won't be me. It's their choice and they do that.

Sarah's Hollyoaks exit will reportedly air in the new year.

Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 6.30pm followed by first look episodes on E4
