Adam was one of the stand out stars of Hollyoaks, winning over a legion of fans when he was introduced as Brody in 2017. The character was at the centre of some of the Channel 4 soap’s most high profile storylines, including being sexually assaulted by his football coach Buster Smith (played by Nathan Sussex) when he was a teenager and his toxic relationship with Sienna Blake (Anna Passey). The actor is leaving the TV show after four years and here is everything you need to know about why.

Why has Adam Woodward quit Hollyoaks as Brody Hudson?

Brody was introduced as the best friend of Damon Kinsella (Jacob Roberts), who arrived in the Chester-based village to find his brother, Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams).

By joining his surrogate brother, the heartthrob quickly became an established character in his own right and overtook Damon in popularity.

This made his exit even more heartbreaking for fans, who were first informed Adam had quit in the autumn trailer for the soap.

Speaking of his decision to leave, the actor said: “Brody’s departure has been bandied about for a long time.

“Before COVID hit in March 2020, I spoke to [former executive producer] Bryan Kirkwood about storylines and where the character was going.”

“We were discussing where to take Brody or whether his time was going to be wrapped up soon,” the actor continued.

Adam was given another contract to see him through another year after the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns.

It was a mutual decision to bring the character’s time on the show to an end and Adam explained he wanted his alter-ego to go out with a “bang” in an interview with Digital Spy.

The actor also spoke out in a statement about quitting his role on the show, recalling some of his greatest memories on the soap.

“Brody’s happy go lucky carefree attitude was soon cut short with his past came back to haunt him in the form of Buster,” Adam said.

“I will forever cherish my time working on the abuse storyline for the positive impact we all made, and how well-received it was by the audience.”

“My time playing Brody has given me memories I will never forget and friends I’ll keep for a lifetime,” he continued.

“Least of which Anna Passey, who made playing one half of Brienna an absolute pleasure. Brody found his soul mate in Sienna, however complicated and bumpy love can be, she was there for him right to the end.

“I know his bromance with Damon will also never be forgotten! If you’ve loved Brody or hated him, just know I appreciate you watching him. Goodbye Brody and thanks for everything.”

How did Brody Hudson leave Hollyoaks?

After a gut-wrenching showdown with his archnemesis Summer Ranger (Rhiannon Clements), Brody agreed to hand himself in to the police for the part he played in her father’s death.

She was holding Sienna at gunpoint as she threatened Brody to make sure he knew she meant business and wasn’t messing around.

When he headed off to bid farewell to his loved ones in the village, Sienna managed to knock out her deranged former lover.

The mother of three returned to the village to tell her boyfriend he didn’t have to hand himself in and they could live happily ever after.

Unfortunately, in a cruel twist of fate, Brody was hit by a speeding car and he passed away in Sienna’s arms.

Heartbroken, Sienna is convinced the person behind the wheel was Summer, enacting the final part of her revenge plan.

What she doesn’t realise is the father of her twin children, Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), killed Brody and is struggling with the guilt.

In the coming weeks, Sienna will continue her vendetta against Summer as she tries to get justice for Brody but only time will tell if she finds out the truth.
