Hollyoaks storms Inside Soap Awards as Steph Davies wins Best Actress

Hollyoaks were the big winners of the Inside Soap Awards picking up gongs in all the major categories as well as being crowned Best Soap for the first time ever.

The Channel 4 soap has been on the air since 1995 and six years before the inaugural Inside Soap Awards back in 2001.

And the cast and crew of the drama filled soap have plenty of reasons to celebrate after beating off stiff competition from legendary shows EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale to be crowned the finest of them all.

Ripplingly muscular hunk Adam Woodward, who has played Brody Hudson, was crowned Best Actor in the awards, while reality star, singer and actress Stephanie Davis, who plays Sinead Shelby, was awarded Best Actress.

Other soap stars did pick up other gongs with EastEnders star Danny Dyer being awarded the Funniest Male award for his role as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter.

While Lorraine Stanley was the winner of the Funniest Female award for her role in EastEnders as slummy mummy Karen Taylor.

“It’s been an amazing soap year – in fact, the awards have never been more keenly fought,” Inside Soap editor Steven Murphy said in a statement as the winners were announced.

“Looking down the winners list, the UK should be extremely proud of our soaps and our soap stars, as the breadth of talent among the winners is astonishing,” he added.
