Dan, 44, and pro partner Nadiya Bychkova bowed out of the hit BBC show on Sunday as they narrowly missed out on a semi-final place. Despite praise for his electric tango performance, Dan and Nadiya lost the dance-off to TV presenter AJ Odudu, 33, and pro Kai Widdrington, 26. Yesterday, Dan chatted and posed for selfies with fans in Salford, Greater Manchester, after hosting the BBC Breakfast show.
After his Strictly exit, the father of three said: “I’ve genuinely loved every second of it.When I go back to the first day when I was asked to dance in front of some glitterballs, at that point, if there had been a fire exit, I’d have just walked away.”
Turning to Nadiya, 32, Dan added: “But this amazing woman grabbed me by the hand and brought me out on to this dance floor.”
Dan’s tango, performed to Santa Maria by Gotan Project, lost out to AJ’s Salsa to Rhythm Is Gonna Get You by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.
