I'm worth £37m, but I'm still tight and love searching for supermarket bargains, admits Strictly's Sara Davies

STRICTLY star Sara Davies is worth a whopping £37million, but admits she's still "tight" and always searches for supermarket bargains.

The Dragons' Den entrepreneur, 37, has been the dark horse of the competition after impressing the judges' with her surprise moves.

And it appears she's no stranger to being the opposite to what people would think she'd be.

In a conversation with the Sunday People last year, Sara said: “Growing up, if something was reduced with a big sticker on it in Asda, we would call it a ‘whoopsie’.

"Smoked salmon was my mum’s favourite thing but in our house we would only ever buy it if it was ‘on whoopsie’ and greatly reduced.

"I grew up thinking smoked salmon was as luxurious as it gets in the food market.

“To this day, with all the money I have, I will only ever buy smoked salmon in the supermarket if it is on offer.

"To me it is a luxury. It’s how I’ve been programmed – we grew up with very little money. Friends think it’s hilarious.”

She also admits booking her personal trainer up to three months in advance to make sure she went while on a health kick.

“I’m too tight not to turn up for something I’ve already paid for," she explained.

The mum-of-two also shuns luxurious holidays for camping holidays like she enjoyed in her childhood.

Sara takes Oliver and Charlie on UK trips with her parents – despite having the money to splash the cash on something more extravagant.

For the moment, she's far too busy in rehearsals practising for the live shows than spending her hard-earned cash.

But with that comes the fear of falling victim to the Strictly curse.

Last month Sara admitted that her dance partner's wife Janette told her to imagine Aljaz is her own husband while they are performing for the judges.

She insisted "take Aljaz, he's yours" as she urged them to "tell a love story" on the dance floor.

The 37-year-old star has been loved up with the hunky dancer since 2009, tying the knot in 2017, and the pair have consistently avoided the infamous 'Strictly Curse' despite both being stars of the show.

Sara previously said of Janette's support: "Janette gave me a right talking to about it. She said, 'look Sara, you're going to have to look into his eyes and imagine that my husband is actually your husband and imagine it's Simon and dance it like it's him'.
